History /

Stephen Leskard was a Postwar & Contemporary artist, born in Lublin, Poland, in 1921. He took his early training at Edinburgh University College of Art, Scotland, also four years at St. Martin’s School of Art, London, England. After immigrating to Ontario (1949-52), he eventually settled in British Columbia in 1952. He worked as a commercial artist and taught at the Vancouver School of Art (1954-55). He then went on to become the first art co-ordinator and established the art program at Capilano College now Capilano University (1969-1980s).
